Wedding Diaries 💞💞
My college friend got married this weekend, and this was the first wedding I have attended without parental supervision. Not that I need parental supervision, but we know how overprotective Indian parents can be.
I was allowed to go alone this time because the wedding was in Gurgaon, so technically Delhi itself, and also because the hotel rooms were pre-booked, so safety was not a concern.
We had the most amazing time at the wedding. I and the other girlfriends were on bridesmaid duties, and we did a great job for TWO whole days!
However, the highlight of the event was when after spending hours keeping company to the bride in the bridal room, we left her on the stage with the groom and went to eat something.
I had just asked for pasta and was about to go get a plate when we heard THAT music. You know, THAT music? The varmala was happening. AND WE ALMOST MISSED IT.
My eyes widened, and I looked around. Pnic set in for a brief moment. And then, I have no idea what came over me, but I ran. Towards the damn stage. And then I saw the other bridesmaids doing the same. We all ran like our lives depended on it. Because they did.
Imagine spending two days with the bride, only to miss the event that everything else was building towards THIS WHOLE TIME. From different corners of the banquet hall, we ran like hell. In our sarees and lehengas and heels.
All of us made a run for it. I cannot remember the last time I ran, but it was such a thrilling experience. People must have thought us crazy, but who cares! We were there for the bride, not the people.
Forutnately, we got to the stage just in time! Imagine the regret we would have had to live with if we had missed it. But thankfully, that did not happen.
Here are some pictures from the wedding. I have personally asked every single person in the photos whether I can upload these publicly, and I am only posting these with everyone's consent.
Hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed the wedding!
