Bring Back Enjoying Being Bad at Things
At some point, we started treating hobbies like LinkedIn skills.
Reading had to be for self-improvement. Running had to end in a marathon. Baking had to become a side hustle. Even journaling somehow got rebranded as a productivity hack.
When did we stop doing things just because they were just fun or ridiculous hobbies?
Making friendship bracelets out of loom band, memorising useless facts about your favourite celebrity, learning a trending dance choreography in your bedroom, ranking every flavour of an instant noodles brand as if you're a food critic and so much more.
Not everything you love has to make you smarter, richer, fitter or more employable.
Sometimes, the point of a hobby is that it's just useless. But it makes you happy. Mainly because it's YOUR thing and not something someone online recommended you to do.
We have become so conditioned to spending time on productivity that we forgot that joy isn't a waste of time.
You're allowed to be bad at pottery. You're allowed to crochet wonky beanies. You're allowed to spend three hours learning a dance you'll perform for absolutely nobody.
You don't have to monetise your interests to justify them.
You just have to enjoy them.
And honestly? Being cringe enough to have hobbies again might be the most freeing thing we can do this year.
