He’s gay, so he must like wearing women’s clothes.
All girls are inherently bisexual.
Trans women are just men trying to enter “real” women’s spaces.


No, these are not my views.
These are some of the many misconceptions I’ve heard growing up.

And just because it doesn’t affect my life directly,
doesn’t mean I won’t talk about it.

Because the truth is,
most people don’t even know the difference between
→ transgender,
→ intersex, and
→ socio-cultural identities like hijra, jogta, or eunuchs.

And if that wasn’t concerning enough,
even our systems often fail to make these distinctions clearly.

Recently, the Trans Rights Amendment Bill was proposed.

An amendment is supposed to improve an existing law.
But this one raises serious concerns about taking away more rights than it protects.

Sexual orientation and gender identity are deeply personal.

But when laws begin to treat them as something to be defined by
→ the state,
→ medical authorities, or
→ public opinion
then it affects real lives.

Terms like “third gender” are often used as a blanket label.

But trans men, trans women, and intersex individuals are not the same.

Some differences are biological.
Some are about identity.

And most of us don’t fully understand the difference.

That’s exactly why I want to talk about this.

Not to preach.

But to learn, question, and create space for honest conversations.
