My wrist has been giving me trouble all week, so I probably should've stayed home this weekend. Instead, I somehow ended up at a women's meetup, cleared out Karen Rose's shelf at Blossom Book House, and finished the weekend at a nightclub.

I usually spend my weekends hosting meetups, so this time I decided to attend other people's instead.

Started Saturday with a broken hand at a women-only meetup hosted by @pritha who first attended one of mine. It was oddly wholesome seeing someone who'd once attended my meetup now hosting one of her own. There were also two women I'd previously met through my own meetups, and another who tagged along after seeing my Reddit post.

Afterwards, I made the dangerous decision to stop by Blossom Book House.

I'd recently read one Karen Rose novel and become completely obsessed, so I walked out with an entire pile of her books. I couldn't even carry them properly because of my injured hand and had to ask someone to stack them onto my good arm. A very old man looked at the mountain of books and simply said, "Wow." All I could do was smile back sheepishly.

At the billing counter, the cashier asked, "Did you find her book?" Earlier, he'd told me there were only two Karen Rose books registered in their system. I laughed and replied, "I found everything." He seemed just as amused as I was.

That night, I barely slept. One of those nights where old memories and past failures decide to revisit you all at once.

Sunday took an even stranger turn.

I somehow ended up at a club despite being someone who neither drinks nor dances.

The invitation came from a woman I'd met last through a tiny meetup on "Thoughtful Conversations" via TwoXTopia itself. She was the very first person who hosted a meetup via TwoXTopia other than me. Only three of us had shown up that day, but we stayed in touch. So when she asked if I'd join her and another friend for clubbing, I thought, why not?

I stuck to good food and soft drinks, spent most of the evening talking at the bar, eventually danced a little during the DJ set (Smooth Brain Girlie, to be precise), and then retreated to the back when my social battery needed a break.

The funniest part was that since I was one of the few sober people around, random men kept handing me their drinks while they went to the washroom. It also made me realise men and women have very different standards for who they'll trust with their drinks. 😂

At one point, I also had to stop a very drunk guy from messaging "I love you" to his boss on LinkedIn.

Perks of being the sober one, I guess.

Safe to say, this weekend reminded me why I love Bangalore. Every plan somehow turned into a story.

What did your weekend look like? Did you attend any meetups, discover a new place, or just come back with a story worth telling?
